Happy new year guys, welcome to 2018. So you made it too... so happy for us. Ok, let's talk about the new year and the lies they are telling us.
Happy new year guys, welcome to 2018. So you made it too… so happy for us.
Ok, let’s talk about the new year and the lies they are telling us.
I can remember there was a post I saw on Facebook last month that got me laughing really hard, it says ‘My pastor said this is my year that I will get married, but the year has almost ended and I am not even in a relationship, me I’m going to meet my pastor to give me back the money that I sowed’. Oh boy! I laughed ehn.
I know we are all thanking God for the new year, but I also know most of us are also starting the new year in disappointment. Disappointments from many unmet expectations, but then, we all need to thank God anyway… right? But Believe me people, it is not the will of God for us to be living in disappointment, God wants us to praise him wholeheartedly and not with reservations.
There will always be disappointments when we create expectations out of lack of understanding of the mind of God for us. Should we thank God for the new year? Of course, we should but not just on the new year eve, but also all the days of our lives.
Remember the ways of God are not the same with that of a man. January to February is man’s way of measuring time and season, but God doesn’t work with the standard set by man. God works with His own season and till we understand this, we will continue to try to bend God to man’s standard, and this is impossible.
From The Scripture, we don’t know much about the sons of Issachar, but we know one thing we should all emulate ‘And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do…’ (1 Chronicles 12:32).
These men understood time, not year and from their understanding of time, they knew what Israel should do… Per time. So let me ask you, do you understand time? God’s time? Or are you just counting months designed by man?
God will do what he promised you, ‘He is not a man that He should lie neither the son of man that He should repent’, but God will do what He promised in its season and this season may fall within 2018, 2019 or 2020.
When we want to receive from God, we need to learn to live outside of man-made time and learn to work with God per time. God will not begin a new thing in your life simply because it is January 2018 but God will begin a new thing because it is your own season to receive new things from God. There are some people that are carrying over old things into the new year, it doesn’t mean that they have been forgotten or the guy getting something new is more blessed. No! that is an error.
See this, Angel of God speaking to Abraham: ‘Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son’ (Genesis 18:14).
The World English Bible Says “Is anything too hard for Yahweh? At the set time, I will return to you, when the season comes round, and Sarah will have a son.”
Another one from a man: ‘” About this time next year,” Elisha said, “you will hold a son in your arms’ (2Kings 4:16).
God relates to us sometimes based on our time because that is the measure we understand. God may say you will be getting married in 2018; this does not mean 2018 is your year, it means your season falls within 2018.
So how many of us have asked the Lord to inquire about this season? or are we carried away with the new year frenzy?
Do you have unmet expectations in 2017? Do not despair, God has not forgotten you remember ‘The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.’ (Psalm 145:15).
Once again, Have a jolly good year ahead. God bless you.
